A gem of NZ natives due to its anti inflammatory medicinal properties but an attractive shrub in its own right. Ity has aromatic, rich red and green foliage. It has a distinctive spicy and pungent flavour of the leaves. Makes a stunning hedge. It can be frost tender while young and thrives in bushy areas. Likes a moist soil, rich in organic matter. Evergreen. Deer resistant. Grows great in a pot.
Slow to medium growing and after 5 years will be 2 m high. These seedlings are between 20 cm and 40 cm tall.
