For small-scale infestations, cut stump treatment with 5g metsulfuron-methyl per 1 L of water can be effective. Similar Species

Other cultivars, such as Crataegus laevigata (pink, double-flowered), barberry, and boxthorn, may resemble English Hawthorn. However, English Hawthorn is characterized by its multilobed triangular leaves and red fruit.
